У 2010 році Палмер та Нобліч шукали в супермаркеті легальні солодощі з лікувальним каннабісом, але так і не знайшовши нічого з прийнятним смаком, вирішили створити власний бренд.

Подружжя вивело сорт лікувальної марихуани, який допомагає знімати біль у суглобах і тривогу та випускає його у формі шоколадних плиток.

Зараз Ківа є одним з найпопулярніших брендів медичного канабісу в Каліфорнії.

"Ківа став золотим стандартом по розробці торговельної марки і упаковки", - говорить Пем Веббер, директор з маркетингу компанії 99designs.

У половині штатів США дозволено використання марихуани в медичних та рекреаційних цілях. За оцінками Bloomberg, ринок легальної марихуани до 2026 року досягне позначки $ 50 млрд доларів США, пише профільне видання Digiday.

Назва бренду не має нічого спільного з колишнім керівником департаменту боротьби з наркозлочинністю Іллею Ківою і є збігом.
